Imagine: Reflections on Peace and Yves Saint Laurent by Alexandra & Pierre Boulat, exhibited at FOTOIST in Pristina, Kosovo.

The newly founded International Photography Festival, “FOTOIST,” aims to promote photography and the cultural life in Pristina. Opening on August 25, 2023, the five-day festival, founded by photographer Burim Myftiu, will host various photography exhibitions, lectures, debates, film screenings, portfolio reviews, and other events.

The VII Foundation’s Imagine: Reflections on Peace, a book, exhibition, education, and advocacy project, will be displayed in The Barabar Center in the Grand Hotel.

In this stunning collection, world-renowned journalists and authors take us into societies that have suffered searing conflict—and survived. Photographic essays make the stakes during war and peace grippingly palpable. Compelling backstories about negotiations, tales of survival, and accounts of the search for inner peace make the big picture personal. They also reveal the complexities of redemption and rebuilding in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Colombia, Lebanon, Northern Ireland, and Rwanda. The multimedia exhibition features photographic essays from Ron Haviv, Gary Knight, Gilles Peress, Stephen Ferry, Don McCullin, Nichole Sobecki, Jack Picone, Roland Neveu, and Nicole Tung.

Open from Friday, August 25, at 20:00 (CET) at The Barabar Center in the Grand Hotel.

Yves Saint Laurent by Alexandra and Pierre Boulat will also be at the festival, on display at the National Museum of Kosovo.

Yves Saint Laurent by Alexandra and Pierre Boulat is an extensive body of photographic work capturing the most significant moments throughout French fashion and costume designer Yves Saint Laurent’s career. For over thirty years, Alexandra and Pierre had exclusive access to Yves Saint Laurent, documenting his personal life and work, from his first collection in 1962 to his last in 2002. This exhibition showcases Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic creations and intimate moments from behind the scenes of his fashion shows and personal life with his partner, Pierre Bergé. The collection of images explores the designer’s evolving aesthetics and the shifting boundaries of fashion throughout the last century.

Open from Saturday, August 26, at 19:00 (CET) at Kosova National Museum.
