Join Gary Knight and Ron Haviv for an intensive one-day workshop on October 9, 2016 at OBJECTIFS in Singapore that will explore multi-faceted approaches to photojournalism and help you answer questions that will guide you on your own path. Both Knight and Haviv have documented conflict and pursued stories on social and human rights issues over the last three decades, and have received critical acclaim for their collections of work. As co-founders of the internationally renowned photo agency VII, Knight and Haviv will be able to offer valuable insight to the approaches and possibilities in photojournalism today. Participants stand a chance to have their work featured on VII’s Instagram feed as well.
Knight and Haviv will discuss developing a personal sensitivity and visual style and encourage participants to work using their instinct rather than formula. The workshop will combine portfolio reviews, a thematic assignment, editing sessions, and dialogue. Haviv and Knight will also share their own work and experience as photojournalists.
Discussions will guide each person’s narrative direction and then be developed in the workshop. Throughout the time together, Knight and Haviv will help students understand the reality of photojournalism today and share their tips on what it takes to cover the world. Participants will leave with greater clarity on how to define their personal path forward in the world of photography.
