December 13, 2016
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Columbia University in Paris
Paris, France
More than ten years after the 2005 riots, this panel will bring together researchers, journalists, and photographers to try to answer some of the following questions: What legal options are available to residents of popular neighborhoods as they face media professionals? What constraints are put on journalists in their practices? How can we imagine new visual and written narratives? Is it possible to show social violence without endorsing it?
In this panel discussion, Arnau Bach will draw upon his experience creating Suburbia, a project about daily life in the Paris suburbs that began in 2006 and was completed in 2012.
