Join Anush Babajanyan in conversation with Ziyah Gafic for a VII book club discussion of The House of Culture on December 1 at 10 AM EDT / 4 PM CEST.
Anush Babajanyan has spent a year photographing Houses of Culture in Armenian villages, locations where performances, theatre, and art classes took place years ago. Many of these places do not function anymore but are not torn down either; they resemble the way they used to look but in various stages of decay and abandonment. Anush photographed The House of Culture to bring together the connection of the human and the houses themselves, to speak about the past through our present emotions. The process of photography was also a meditative experience for her at a turbulent time in life.
Anush has published the work in a hand made book, which she will present during this book club meeting. In addition to the images and the story itself, Anush will speak about the process of binding the book and making the covers.
