Learn and improve documentary reportage skills by covering an editorial story constructed in collaboration with Ed Kashi. Professional photographers, advanced amateurs and practicing journalists are invited to attend this workshop, in which participants will have an opportunity to delve into the challenges of storytelling and story composition by analyzing real- situation problems, editing, and caption writing. Throughout the workshop, Kashi will help students discover a unique visual language, as well as the practical and conceptual know-how needed to confront real situations that arise when reporting in the field. This workshop will also focus on how to gain new perspectives on one’s work and attitude.

Following the workshop, the portfolios produced by each participant will be published on the site of Eyes in Progress, where an evaluation committee composed of professional photo editors, journalists, creative directors and gallery curators will then critique each body of work. Social media modules will also be available to assist students in sharing work with friends and contacts.
