Youssouf Sanogo, 1, plays while held by his father, Abubajar Sanogo, 36, at the Community Health Centre of Koumatou, in Mali, on April 29, 2019.
Baby Youssouf was born healthy and avoided infections at birth thanks to a health facility connected to clean water. He and his mother were washed in uncontaminated water that is free of charge. Before the well, malaria and diarrhoea were endemic to the region.
Father Abubajar Sanogo, 36:
“It is very important for him to have a strong father in his life. I can see it is good for his confidence, and for my confidence. It is also important for the spirit of the mother. You can see it in the psychological development of the baby. “
