Core Courses
There are three VII Academy core courses:
- Beginner Level 1
- Intermediate Level 2 (with the first starting on 26 April 2022)
- Advanced Level 3 (planned for Fall 2022)
Participants first undertake the Level 1 course in photography before progressing to Level 2 and Level 3.
The Level 1 core course is taught through 12 live online sessions over 12 weeks. The syllabus is built around multiple mini-assignments to be done by students from one week to the next. In addition, there are separate sessions taught by a professor on the theory, history, and ethics of photography and photojournalism.
In 2020 we ran eleven Level 1 courses for people from South and Southeast Asia, the Pacific region, Central and Eastern Europe, the Former Yugoslavia and Albania, both English-speaking and French-speaking Africa, and Native Arabic speakers.
