2023 Foundry Photojournalism Workshop Application

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. VII Academy courses/seminars/workshops/programs (hereafter referred to as “programs”), which include Foundry Photojournalism Workshops, are open to working photographers or visual journalism students who are trying to further their education and professional skills.
  1. Volunteers, employees and directors of VII Academy, The VII Foundation, and PhotoWings and their immediate families are NOT eligible to apply for funding during the time that they are working for these organizations. Advisory board members and their immediate families are NOT eligible to apply for funding during the time that they are involved with the organizations. Program application judges, and their immediate families, are NOT eligible to apply for funding in the year that judges help choose recipients.
  1. Only those submissions that meet the eligibility requirements and include all required materials will be considered for entry.

REQUIREMENTS OF APPLICANTS AND/OR PARTICIPANTS TO FOUNDRY PHOTOJOURNALISM WORKSHOPS:

By submitting an application, applicants agree to be fully and unconditionally bound to these Terms and Conditions.

The program will be administered in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations including, but not limited to, those promulgated by the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Participants retain all copyrights to their work. Obligations of participants are as follows:

Participants agree to grant royalty-free licenses for their work produced during the program to VII Academy / The VII Foundation and PhotoWings for possible exhibition and/or publication (no guarantees are made for publication or exhibition) of such work in connection with this program; for educational and/or community outreach purposes, including lesson plans; and, in addition to his or her likeness, for publicity and press purposes by VII Academy / The VII Foundation, and PhotoWings related to this program. Any photograph so used by VII Academy / The VII Foundation and PhotoWings will carry the photographer’s credit/copyright line.

Participants waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. VII Academy, The VII Foundation, and PhotoWings and their respective affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents do not have and will not have any liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless against, any liability for any illness, injuries, losses, death, litigation, claim or damages of any kind to persons or property resulting in or in part, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any scholarship.

Should a court of law find VII Academy, The VII Foundation or PhotoWings liable for loss or damage, their total liability will be limited to the amount of $10, and in no event shall they be liable for attorney’s fees.

APPLICANT PRIVACY NOTICE:

It will be necessary for VII Academy, The VII Foundation or PhotoWings to collect applicants’ personal data in order to administer and manage this program, including but not limited to processing the program applications, keeping program applicants informed about the program, and making distributions. The types of personal data we collect for this program includes each applicant’s name, affiliated business/school name, email address, telephone number, postal address, and other information requested in the application form. VII Academy, The VII Foundation or PhotoWings only collects personal data voluntarily submitted by applicants. Personal data submitted by applicants will only be used to administer and manage this program, and for VII Academy, The VII Foundation or PhotoWings’s internal use such as performing marketing studies, research projects, and program development.

VII Academy, The VII Foundation or PhotoWings will not share, sell, or rent personal data submitted by program applicants to any third parties for their promotional use or for marketing purposes, except in the event a third-party vendor is acting as an agent of VII Academy, The VII Foundation or PhotoWings for operational support in connection with the program.

VII Academy, The VII Foundation and PhotoWings’ principal place of business is in the United States. If the program applicant is submitting the application from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where The VII Foundation’s servers are located, and you agree to such cross-border transfers of personal data.

VII Academy, The VII Foundation and PhotoWings are committed to protecting personal data from loss, misuse, alteration, and unauthorized access and takes reasonable precautions to safeguard the confidentiality of personal data, including physical access controls to our premises, use of passwords for access to our systems, use of encryption when appropriate, and use of anti-virus software. Although VII Academy, The VII Foundation and PhotoWings make every effort to protect the information you provide to us, the transmission of information between applicants to us over the internet is not completely secure. As such, VII Academy, The VII Foundation and PhotoWings cannot guarantee the security of personal data transmitted over the internet notwithstanding the high level of protection undergone. MONETARY DISTRIBUTION AND DEADLINES:

Participants must submit the high-resolution images, text, and/or video produced during the workshop or event to VII Academy / The VII Foundation within 1 week of the end of the workshop or event.

Participants are responsible for reporting the value of participation for tax purposes as required by applicable law.
