VII Photo contributing photographer Pascal Maitre‘s exhibition, titled Lorsque la Photo Raconte le Monde (When the Photo Tells the World), debuts at Villa Tamaris in La Seyne-sur-Mer, France. With 190 photos spread across three floors, the exhibition presents a comprehensive retrospective of Maitre’s work spanning several decades.

Reflecting on an illustrious 40-year career, Maitre shares a selection of his most compelling images with the public. Highlights include his magnificent images of Afghanistan from the time of the Mujahideen at war with the Russians to the present day. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to experience Maitre’s impactful reports on Africa and global ecology and admire his report on the Peulhs, for which he was awarded the Académie des Beaux-Arts prize. Notably, Maitre introduces his latest project addressing the problems of coal.

The exhibition will be on view until May 5, 2024.
