Level Three Seminar Arles: Program for Narrative & Documentary Practice

Level 3 Seminar Arles: Program for Narrative & Documentary Practice at The Alexandra Boulat Campus

In June, VII Academy’s The Alexandra Boulat Campus in Arles hosted the first practice-oriented workshops for Level Three students.

The multi-disciplinary program focused on visual journalism and storytelling using research, writing, time-based media, and photography through the study of classic and contemporary work and in-the-field practice.

The Level Three program was delivered by leading voices from photography and visual journalism, including Monica Allende, Philip Blenkinsop, Ziyah Gafić, and Gary Knight. Their sessions explored topics such as ethics, business practice, grant writing, branding, design fundamentals, story pitching, entrepreneurship, and legalities.

The Alexandra Boulat Campus also offers public exhibitions. From July 5, 2023, running until January 31, 2024, it will show See Through the Noise, a retrospective exhibition of the most significant events and issues reported by the photographers of VII.

See Through the Noise is the first collective exhibition by VII Photo in Arles, and students will have the opportunity to meet VII photographers during the opening week for one-to-one portfolio reviews and feedback.
