Ksenia Ivanova

Ksenia Ivanova is a Russian documentary photographer currently based in Georgia. Her work focuses on violence and trauma, and she prefers to delve deeply into topics, building trusting relationships with her subjects and working on long-term projects. For three years, she worked on a story about one of Russia’s leading oncology surgeons, who himself was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and lost his battle with the disease in 2020.

Her projects have been published in numerous media outlets such as 6Mois, Der Spiegel, and The Washington Post. Ivanova frequently contributes to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Le Monde, The Washington Post, and GEO France. Over the past eight years, she has collaborated with the Russian charity magazine Takie Dela, documenting stories on social issues.

Ivanova has received numerous awards. She was recognized as a finalist for Pictures of the Year International in the category of Online Storytelling Project of the Year (2021) and also reached the finals for the Leica Grand Prix at the Young Photographers of Russia competition in the same year. Additionally, she secured third place in Pictures of the Year Asia for her Issue Reporting Picture Story (2021). She was honored to be selected for the 30 Under 30 Women Photographers in 2020 and emerged as a finalist for the Vilnius Photo Circle in Lithuania in the same year.
