Ela Zdešar (b. 2001, Postojna) is a Slovenian photographer whose work emerges from a lifelong connection to nature. Growing up in the countryside, she developed an intrinsic understanding of the environment that now infuses her artistic practice. Her unique perspective combines her training as a veterinary technician and photography engineer with her current studies at the University of Nova Gorica’s Academy of Arts.
Currently participating in the international Vital Impacts Environmental Photography Mentorships 2024/25, she also represents the non-profit environmental organization In The Same Boat as an ambassador in Norway. She has been recognized three times as a Slovenian Young Hope by the Zavarovalnica Triglav and Vse bo vredu Institute. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including shows at Kranj Foto Fest in Slovenia and Calamuchita Foto Doc in Argentina.
