Square Mile: What Lives Between Us
Join us on Thursday, July 9, at 18:00 CEST at The VII Foundation’s Arles campus for a screening of VII Community’s Square Mile initiative, presented in partnership with PhotoWings.
Following successful presentations at The VII Foundation and Festival OFF Arles in 2024 and 2025, Square Mile returns for its third edition. The initiative showcases diverse photographic explorations by members of VII Community, a global network of The VII Foundation alumni and Foundry Photojournalism Workshop participants.
Entitled What Lives Between Us, this year’s edition explores what endures across generations. In communities around the world, people preserve traditions, memories, rituals, stories, and ways of life even as the world around them changes. These acts of preservation are not passive; they are deliberate, often urgent responses to displacement, urbanization, conflict, political upheaval, and climate change.
Through photography, What Lives Between Us examines how individuals and communities safeguard cultural identity, collective memory, and human connection in times of profound transformation.
Curated by Ron Haviv, Suzie Katz, and Nika Perne.
