Guido Schmidtke is a Hamburg based picture editor. After studying communication design at the Folkwang University in Essen, he worked for many years as a freelance photographer, mainly for magazines. He began his work as a picture editor at ADAC Reisemagazin (travel magazine). Since 2004 he has been picture editor at STERN Magazine. For the past eight years he has been responsible for the foreign desk. He is now head of the photo department.
