Notre-Dame After the Fire in National Geographic Magazine

Photo by Tomas van Houtryve / VII for National Geographic. A massive hole in the roof of Notre-Dame cathedral of Paris is seen from above in November 2020, at the exact place where the spire was before the April 2019 fire. The burning spire crashed through the cathedral's vaulted ceilings toward the altar below. Fire-damaged debris and melted scaffolding is seen resting on the vaults around the hole, while safety netting is attached inside to prevent more debris from falling to the ground.

National Geographic Magazine has published Tomas van Houtryve’s images of the reconstruction of the Notre-Dame cathedral of Paris as a cover story with 36-pages in the February 2022 issue. Complimenting the magazine is a custom-built immersive webpage featuring his exclusive drone videography, as well as podcast in NatGeo’s Overheard series.

The publication of the still photography and the drone images in National Geographic were also featured on the TODAY show, one of the most-watched television programs in the United States.
