The migrations across the Americas are a consequence of endemic poverty and violence. People flee unbearable living conditions in their home countries and head to the United States.

In this presentation, Nicoló Filippo Rosso will share his visual report from recent work in Mexico and the United States, where, building on his project Exodus, he has documented families traveling through to their destination.

One of the themes to explore is how the mainstream media’s interest in migration issues often follows politics. This poses a challenge: are visual journalists offering valuable information on an event or serving a political agenda that uses migration as an instrument for its propaganda?
