Join us on Sunday, October 19, at 1000 CEST for an engaging workshop tailored for early-career filmmakers and photographers seeking hands-on experience in film production. Led by Julie Busse, an Emmy-nominated video editor based in New York, and Sabine M. Probst Saavedra, a documentary filmmaker and founder of Seen Blue Conservation, this workshop will provide valuable insights into the stages of filmmaking, including pre-production, production, and post-production. Part of this year’s OKO Foto Festival program, the workshop will emphasize local visual storytelling styles and editing techniques to evoke emotion.

About Julie Busse 

Julie Busse is a Jackson Wild Award winning, Emmy-nominated, Wildscreen-nominated filmmaker and film editor. She’s known for her empathetic editing style that prioritizes storytelling through movement. She specializes in nature film, dance film, art cinema, and stories which explore human-animal intersectionality.

Julie received her MFA in film from the University of Colorado Boulder. For a decade she was the lead editor for Dancing Camera Productions in New York City. Additionally, she has exhibited experimental films and performances across the country since 2009.

About Sabine Probst Saavedra

Sabine M. Probst Saavedra is a documentary filmmaker, NGO director, and impact storyteller. Through evocative cinematic imagery her films explore the deep and transformative connection between humanity and nature, especially the ocean.

In 2022, Sabine co-founded Seen Blue Conservation, an impact media organization where she serves as director. Seen Blue is dedicated to using media for ocean and water conservation by inspiring and engaging global audiences through impactful storytelling.

Last year, she launched the Impact Storytelling Podcast, a platform where she hosts in-depth conversations with leading professionals from the marine science field, conservation artists, environmental organization directors and natural history filmmakers.
