Join award-winning contributing photographer to The VII Foundation, Jocelyn Bain Hogg, and Director of Leica Gallery London, Lou Proud, as they discuss the enduring legacy of ‘The Firm’.

Beginning in 1997 and captured over a three-year period, The Firm is an exclusive document of the characters and undertakings of the British Crime World. Jocelyn reflects on the creation of this uniquely intimate body of work, saying, “The reason the pictures resonate is because I never ever lied to them. I cannot pretend to be from their world; I do not have a cockney accent and actually have no interest at all in British crime histories, and from the start made it clear I didn’t want to photograph their own presentation – no posed pictures and no complicity. From day one, I showed them the pictures and continue to do so. This way, there can be no arguments and no compromise. I soon realised that they actually enjoy being presented in this hard, real way…”

Twenty-five years after its publication, The Firm is now on display at Leica Gallery London. Gallery Director Lou Proud will share her curatorial insights, her collaboration with Jocelyn, and the significance of documentary photography and print.

Hosted by Fiona Stephen, the discussion will delve into the lasting cultural influence of this remarkable collection.
