“The Hollow of the Hand” is a unique collaboration between Seamus Murphy and PJ Harvey. Harvey’s poetry is combined with Murphy’s photographs taken over two decades and with work created on their trips to Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Washington, DC. Murphy published their creative partnership in the form of a book, “The Hollow of the Hand,” in 2015, while PJ Harvey developed her impressions further into her ninth studio album, “The Hope Six Demolition Project,” released in 2016.
Murphy’s photographs have an ability to capture war without judgment, which is what Harvey then aimed to do in words…an uplifting exploration of a brutal subject.

The lines between reality and art are called to attention here about human existence in areas of conflict and everyday survival.
