Congratulations to Thomas Morel-Fort on receiving this year’s Pierre & Alexandra Boulat Grant for his project, Obesity in China. This prestigious grant comes with a prize of €8,000.

The Pierre & Alexandra Boulat Association honors the legacy of Pierre and Alexandra Boulat by supporting emerging photojournalists. Sponsored by LaScam, this award is given annually to a professional photographer working on a social, economic, political, or cultural issue in a journalistic manner. The grant is intended to assist with the production of the story that the recipient is developing.

Thomas Morel-Fort is a freelance photographer whose work focuses on long-term documentary projects.

In 2015, he began his first long-term project on Filipino domestic workers. For this investigation, he was hired undercover as a domestic worker alongside Donna, immersing himself for more than a month in the villa of a rich Libyan family on the French Riviera. 

His work has been published in international media, including The Guardian, 6mois, Le Monde, Le Temps, Le Vif, Le Figaro Magazine, L’Obs, and Le Parisien.

“Ukraine, surviving amidst the ruins” by Gaëlle Girbes

A project visiting devastated towns and villages to witness the incredible resilience of a fragile population surviving in the ruins of the biggest conflict in Europe since the Second World War.

Jeje, an Indonesian digital nomad is working alone after lunch in Dojo Co-Working Space in Canggu. Before being a digital nomad, Jeje was a cabin crew. A dream job for many but for her the pressure of the uniform pushed her to quit her job and to give a try to a digital nomad career. “At the beginning, the co-working spaces are a great way to work. But as long as you start to belong to the community and to make friends you are distracted all the time and you lose productivity. Now, I prefer to work in a cafe alone.” © Jérôme Gence.
