Dr. Paula Kahumbu is a Kenyan conservationist, educator, filmmaker, and one of Africa’s most influential voices for wildlife. As CEO of WildlifeDirect, she has led bold campaigns to protect elephants and inspire a new generation of nature defenders across Africa. In addition to her conservation work, Paula is a passionate educator and storyteller, using film, television, and school programs to change hearts, minds, and policy. She is based at the WildlifeDirect Field Lab, a wilderness space adjacent to the Nairobi National Park where thousands of children and youth gain their first experiences immersed in nature to learn science, conservation and storytelling. She is a multi award winning filmmaker and has produced three nature TV series and presented National Geographic/Disney’s Secrets of the Elephants. Her current project is a feature film on elephants, continuing her mission to transform conservation consciousness in Africa through powerful African stories about nature, coexistence, and hop
