Tanzanian wildlife conservationist, Erica Francis Rugabandana, is an award-winning filmmaker with a background in wildlife management and community development. Specializing in communication for environmental and wildlife conservation education, Erica has produced several community conservation films in Tanzania on land issues, forest conservation, waste management, and wildlife conservation.
Erica is interested in the relationship between humans and nature, and her film Living with Lion, produced in Serengeti National Park with Ikoma Community and funded by Curiosity Stream, received worldwide recognition at festivals including the Prideland Wildlife Film Festival (PWFF) in Africa, the UK’s Wildscreen Festival, and the Jackson Wild Film Festival in the USA.
Erica has a wide breadth of knowledge and experience working with communities in Tanzania, producing films and screenings with communities and schools. As a filmmaker, Erica believes in the power of media in delivering positive behavioral change.
