Moses Bwayo

Moses Bwayo is a Peabody and International Documentary Association (IDA) award-winning filmmaker and journalist based in Los Angeles. His documentary, Bobi Wine: The People’s President (2023), premiered at the Venice Film Festival (2022), was nominated for best documentary feature at the 96th Academy Awards (2024), and the Directors Guild of America (DGA)(2024). He was introduced to cinema by watching bootleg films at local cinema halls, known as ‘bibanda,’ in his native country, Uganda. Other credits include Executive Producer of Nsenene (2023), consulting producer for the HBO limited series Savior Complex (2023). Moses served in various capacities on Disney’s Queen of Katwe (2016), directed by Mira Nair. He recently partnered with Michelle and Barack Obama’s Higher Ground and Breakwater Studios to produce “The Eyes of Ghana” (2025), which premiered at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival. His Netflix-produced short documentary, Masaka kids: A Rhythm Within (2025), explores the transformative power of music and dance. He is producing a feature documentary, Kikuyu Land (2026), which follows a journalist on her quest to investigate land injustices in Kenya. Moses is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the British Academy of Television Arts. Moses is currently developing a slate of human-centered projects in the USA and Africa under his LA-based production company Jajja Productions.
