Nada Harib is an independent photographer, born and raised in Tripoli, Libya. Nada works on long-term stories and covers the daily news, and is one of the contributors to the Instagram pages @EverydayAfrica and @EverydayMiddleEast. She is currently based in New York and studying Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism at the International Center of Photography.
In 2014, Nada participated and worked closely with UNHCR Libya on a collective photo exhibition of Syrian refugees entitled “Faraway Syria.” She has joined group exhibitions locally and internationally, including the Kigali Photo Centre exhibition in Rwanda, with a project called “Gaharwa Lake,” produced during the Foundry Photojournalism Workshop. In addition, Nada has been part of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Tourcoing in France where she participated with her long-term project entitled “In Transit,” focusing on migrants in Tripoli, Libya.
Nada’s work has been featured in Reuters, Getty Images, BBC, World Health Organization, The New Humanitarian, as well as the Washington Post. As a member of the African Photojournalism Database (APJD), her work from the series “Women of Libya” was exhibited at the Photo Vogue Festival, Milan, 2021 and was displayed in a group exhibition at Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam, 2021. In 2020, her long-term project, “Unearth,” was supported by the Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP), an initiative of the Magnum Foundation, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, and the Prince Claus Fund.
Recently, Nada became one of the mentees of the 2021-23 VII Mentor Program. She has contributed to a project created by VII Academy, “Amplifying Student Voices – Photographing Life in the Time of the Pandemic,” as well as the Covid-19 Global Impact Project with a story, “Final Exams” supported by the Magnum Foundation 2020. One of her works, “ The Mass Graves of Tarhuna,” has been selected as one of Time’s Top 100 Photos of 2021. In 2020, Nada was one of the jury members of the 4th edition of the UNESCO “Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads” International Photo Contest, 2022.
