Yasemin Elçi

Yasemin Elçi is an independent curator, art writer, and art advisor. A graduate of Dartmouth College (USA), she served as the director of the Gallery x-ist in Istanbul between 2009 and 2016, representing the gallery at international art fairs. From 2016 to 2019, she was the director of Leica Gallery Istanbul, where she organized exhibitions with renowned photographers such as Thomas Hoepker, Bruno Barbey, Werner Bischof, and Horst P. Horst, along with talks and educational programs.

Since 2020, she has been a nominator for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award. Currently based in Luxembourg, Elçi is focused on curatorial projects with social impact, especially regarding gender equality and environmental consciousness. Her recent curatorial work includes “A Room of One’s Own” (Neimenster, Luxembourg, 2023), “Earth Is Not Flat, But Soon Will Be: Climate Stories Near & Far” (Neimenster, Luxembourg, 2024), and “Climate Elders”, in collaboration with 1in6by2030, (Museu de Arte Sacra, Belém, Brazil, 2025) coinciding with COP30 – UN Climate Conference.

Elçi has been contributing Turkish and English articles to publications such as The Luxembourg Times, Artsy, Harper’s Bazaar, Art Unlimited, Milliyet Sanat, Hürriyet, and Sanat Dünyamız.
