VII photo agency photographer Jessica Dimmock is the recipient of the 2014 Infinity Award for Photojournalist of The Year from the International Center of Photography and top prize winner of the 2013 World Press Photo as the director and cinematographer of the web feature Too Young To Wed. She believes that photographers can make great videographers.
Photographers aim to get as close as possible – close to their subjects, to the emotional feel of a situation, inside of places previously unseen, close to what feels like the truth. When introduced to video, photographers often do not know how make the switch from shooting a still image to shooting moving images, although that instinct to get closer to the subject does not change.
This is something that must be taught, practiced, and observed. But photographers already have an incredibly rich toolkit. This workshop is designed around how to make the transition from stills to video in a way that is hands-on, interactive and instructional.
