Photographing the world around us requires one to confront a myriad of professional and personal challenges. Overcoming these difficulties leads one to become a better storyteller. In this upcoming Maine Media Workshops+College course, award-winning photojournalist Ron Haviv—who has produced images of some of the most important conflict and humanitarian crises that have made headlines around the world—will help participants improve their imagery by focusing on strengthening one’s personal visual voice. To ensure a high quality of individualized instruction, the course will be capped at just 14 students. Through a combination of portfolio reviews, assignments and editing sessions, Haviv will guide each student to finish the workshop prepared to embrace a multi-faceted approach to photojournalism, from developing a personal sensitivity to working in the field and getting work seen.
