Paul Botes is a picture editor and freelance photographer, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Since 2006, Paul has been the picture editor at the Mail & Guardian, and since 2020 also the picture editor at The Continent, a weekly newspaper produced in partnership with the Mail & Guardian. Paul has won numerous awards for his work – which focuses on issues of social justice and inequality – and he is a lecturer and assessor at The Market Photo Workshop.
