Join us on Thursday, April 23, at 18:00 CEST in Sarajevo for our Face of Journalism event — part of Modul Memorije 2026. The evening will focus on the realities of journalism today, beginning with a screening of our documentary film The Stringer, followed by a panel discussion about the conditions under which journalism is produced and the global challenges shaping the profession.
Following the screening of The Stringer an Emmy-nominated documentary film, this panel will examine the future of journalism during a period of deep, accelerating, and increasingly kinetic pressure on the profession. As journalists face growing hostility, dehumanization, financial instability, technological disruption, and the very real dangers of holding power to account, the discussion will explore what it takes to defend and sustain fact-based reporting, rebuild the social contract with the audience, and reflect critically on the profession itself.
The conversation features Nihad Kreševljakovic, Artistic Director of Memory Module; Professor Lejla Turčilo, Head of the Department of Journalism at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajevo; Fiona Turner, producer of The Stringer; and Gary Knight, Executive Director of The VII Foundation and principal investigator of The Stringer. The panel will be moderated by Ziyah Gafic, Director of The VII Foundation, Sarajevo.
The film will be screened in English with subtitles.
The panel discussion will be held in English with translation in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian.

The VII Foundation i MESS festival pozivaju vas na večer posvećenu savremenom novinarstvu, uz projekciju Emmyjem nominiranog filma The Stringer i razgovor o izazovima koji danas oblikuju ovu profesiju.
Film otvara prostor za širu diskusiju o tome kako i pod kakvim uslovima nastaje novinarstvo danas — u vremenu političkih pritisaka, nesigurnosti i brzih promjena u medijskom okruženju.
U razgovoru učestvuju Nihad Kreševljaković, umjetnički direktor Modula Memorije, prof. dr. sci. Lejla Turčilo, šefica Odsjeka za žurnalistiku na Fakultetu političkih nauka Univerziteta u Sarajevu; Fiona Turner, producentica filma The Stringer; te Gary Knight, izvršni direktor The VII Foundation i jedan od autora filma The Stringer. Razgovor moderira Zijah Gafić, direktor The VII Foundation Sarajevo.
