Are We There Yet?

Are We There Yet: What Are the Road Signs to the EU? uses visual storytelling to explore the complexities and challenges of EU integration from the perspective of young people in the Western Balkans.

The regional public diplomacy project, initiated by the Embassies of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Western Balkans and implemented in cooperation with local partners, offers young photographers the opportunity to learn new techniques from renowned photographers, focusing on addressing disinformation within the context of the EU integration process.

Are We There Yet: What Are the Road Signs to the EU?

As part of this project, five emerging photographers from Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in a workshop led by Dutch photographer Ilvy Njiokiktjien. The workshop was organized in cooperation with The VII Foundation and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The resulting work, together with projects by 25 peers from across the Western Balkans, was presented in a joint exhibition featuring 30 participants from six countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia. The exhibition opened at the City Museum of Zenica on November 20, 2025, with related exhibitions subsequently organized in partner countries participating in the project.

Following the exhibition, a jury selected one finalist to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Press Photo program the following year.

The selected participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina were Ljiljana Arsić, Armin Durgut, Una Filipović, Sergej Mačar, and Kenan Tahmiščić.
