USM Modular Furniture presents the exhibition by Swiss photographer Daniel Schwartz. The images feature glaciers in Switzerland, Pakistan, Peru and Uganda and the conditions in which they exist.

The collection can be viewed from September 6 – 30, 2018 in the USM Tokyo Showroom. The collection was previously exhibited in the USM international Showrooms in Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Paris and New York.

Glaciers form a dynamic system. Due to man-made climate change, they are rapidly losing surface area and mass with far-reaching consequences, because glaciers serve as reservoirs of the limited resource “water” as well as serving as an archive of climate history. Daniel Schwartz presents the glacier as a place of remembrance – confronted by loss and thus exposing the past – and at the same time, as a stage that reveals the future as it recedes. “de glacierum natura” is part of the “ICE AGE OUR AGE” project, launched in 2009, which combines pictorial art with natural sciences.
