Introduction

In this special workshop, Sara TerryNichole Sobecki and Linda Bournane Engelberth will work with eight women photographers to elevate their work to the next level by highlighting women’s unique perspectives. Spanning three days and aimed at committed visual journalist and artists, the workshop will be entirely free to chosen participants (eligibility requirements below). The group will foster discussions on the challenges facing female photojournalists, and how to overcome them to carve out careers in this demanding industry. Linda, Nichole and Sara will review each participant’s work in group critiques, giving advice about how to develop the images and stories. If the photographer has a body of work she has already started, this workshop will help the photographer develop her ideas and take her work into new directions. On the streets of Sarajevo, they’ll work with each student on technical details as well as shaping quick vignettes of the city and its inhabitants. On the final day, the group will meet to edit and discuss work shot during the workshop and put together a final screening. Along the way, Linda, Nichole and Sara will advise on professional networking, editing portfolios, and finding and creating paid work.

This workshop is now closed.
