“Notes from my Homeland,” a short documentary film by Talking Eyes Media and Ed Kashi for Newest Americans, will be screened at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. for the 35th Annual Black Maria Film Festival on August 6, 2016.
The film is about Malek Jandali, a Syrian-American composer, who responds to the tragedies instigated by the Assad regime by composing music in support of the Syrian Revolution. It is a moving story that celebrates the power of art to catalyze social movements.
