John Stanmeyer’s work Fatal Neglect will be featured as part of the 9th Paraty Em Foco photography festival in Brazil. The festival invests in diversifying its activities and the search for new platforms and spaces to display and discuss the international photography. Outdoor displays, temporary occupation, multimedia projections and interventions in different formats are among the ingredients that make the next Paraty em Foco a full plate for photography lovers.
Fatal Neglect, shows how kala-azar, also known as visceral leishmaniasis, disease transmitted by a mosquito bite can be fatal if untreated. Stanmeyer’s work shows that a great deal remains to be done in order to provide better, more specialized, more accessible treatment and testing, and to prevent further devastation.
