Hyperlocal journalism, with Andrea Bruce

After spending much of her adult life covering war zones worldwide, photographer Andrea Bruce recently returned to her home in Pamlico County, in eastern North Carolina.

Andrea established Down in the County, a regular newsletter with stories and event listings, described as a celebration of the people of Pamlico County and their way of life.

Down in the County is an example of hyperlocal journalism, which focuses on local stories on a small scale that are often not covered by regional or national outlets.

In this event, we talk with Andrea about her experience running Down in the County and how she translates her worldwide experience to this local venture.

During the event, Andrea discussed an earlier project, which is available online, called Our Democracy.
